Our Projects

Here is a list of current projects we're working on at Better Farm. E-mail us at info@betterfarm.org or call (315) 482-2536 with any questions or to get involved.

betterArts
betterArts is our new nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to increasing access to arts and culture to Redwood, N.Y., and outlying areas. The organization currently hosts artist residencies at Better Farm, and is in the process of starting a free music program coined betterMusic that will provide free instruments and lessons for individuals interested in developing as musicians. betterArts is seeking funding for that program and for similar programs that would publicly offer art and music education, concerts, events, gallery openings, exhibits, and supplies. Donations to betterArts are completely tax-deductible. Contact info@betterarts.org to make a contribution or volunteer.

Bus Tour
On our grounds is a 1963 International bus with an early-1990s engine retrofitted into it. Used by our found, Steve Caldwell, to travel between Tucson and Redwoods in the winters and summers, respectively, we're hoping to breathe some new life into the vehicle so we can take our better brigade on the road. Imagine a sustainability tour where we roll into town to help "green" neighborhoods in small ways: helping to initiate or nurture a community garden, beautifying run-down spaces in an eco-friendly way, helping out in any way we can, doing demonstrations on rainwater catchment, alternative energy, or simple ways to green your life... The sky's the limit, all we need are the wheels. This project has a $5,000 goal. To make a donation, please contact us at info@betterfarm.org.

Moving Off-Grid
Better Farm is home to two completely off-grid structures, the passive solar greenhouse and the active-solar birdhouse. Next up is our recently renovated Art Barn, which will be outfitted with 10 solar panels and companion micro-inverters on a ground-mount system by 1Bog. The nature of the solar installation we chose is that the more local people who use it, the cheaper it becomes for everyone. Learn more at 1Bog.com.
